Deep Cleaning | Commercial Kitchens

According to the CDC, 1 in 6 Americans gets sick from contaminated foods and beverages each year, while 3,000 dies.

Restaurant & kitchen cleanliness is crucial!!! That's a fact whether it's a school cafeteria or a 5-star Michelin restaurant. Kitchen managers do well to follow strict food safety regulations when it comes to handling food in their kitchen and maintaining a sanitary commercial kitchen. Addition measures may be implemented to protect the employees and customers from viral pathogen contaminations such as COVID-19.

For facilities to ensure all areas of their restaurants are properly cleaned they may look into these trouble areas:

The Kitchen Floor:

A clean kitchen floor usually means a clean kitchen. Floors sustain foot traffic, fallen food, and grease from machines. If not cleaned properly they can become a breeding ground for bacteria and vermin. It can also pose a safety hazard for slipping and falling. Thorough sweeping, from corner to corner, under all equipment, and washed with a cleaning solution will ensure a sanitary floor.

The Refrigerator:

Daily cleaning of refrigerators, walk-in or stand-alone, will prevent cross-contamination of foods. Expired food will need to be discarded so as not to contaminate other food. Wiping down these units will also prevent mildew, a type of fungus.

Dumpster Zones:

Although dumpsters are typically on the exterior of a restaurant, they can easily get overlooked in the process of cleaning. The cleaning of this area can prevent foul odors, vermin, and hard grease and oil stains. It can also greatly improve the appearance of your facility.

A clean kitchen is a healthy kitchen.

SERVPRO of Montebello is here to help with your deep clean commercial needs. We deep clean kitchens, grease, and oil. Call us at (323) 215-1997

Creating an Emergency Action Plan for Your Company

3/16/2021 (Permalink)

It is a good idea for businesses large and small to have a plan in place in the event that a disaster strikes Has your company made an Emergency Action Plan?

There are Six Things that a company's emergency action plan must accomplish.

It is a good idea for businesses large and small to have a plan in place in the event that a disaster strikes. Normally, it is a physical document that helps to keep employees organized during an emergency.

  1. Establish Reporting Procedures

There are standard procedures, which include but are not limited to, dialing 911 or pulling a fire alarm. However, a company may wish to establish a system that is unique, and therefore better suited to its individual needs. One example of that would be a bank. They may have a button that is pushed during a robbery to silently notify the authorities. Your company may not need a silent alarm but rather something that could specifically relate to your line of work

  1. Decide Exit Routes

An evacuation plan is made so that employees, should an emergency arise, know when, where, and how to evacuate. The plan should detail who can order an evacuation and explains the conditions in which they would. It should also feature exit maps or diagrams so that employees can follow escape routes easily.

  1. Explain Emergency Procedures

In critical emergencies where equipment or tools must be used before moving forward with the contingency plan, all hazards must be explained. These hazards may include breaking glass or how to properly use fire extinguishers.

  1. Ensure Employee Safety

A procedure to ensure that employees evacuate safely is necessary. Someone may need to be assigned the duty of checking offices and restrooms to make sure no one gets left behind in an emergency. This step could also be accomplished by implementing a simple roll call.

  1. Maintain Contact Information for Employees

Keeping a record of employee names and phone numbers is useful during an emergency. Having this ahead of time will make it easier to locate them either during or immediately after, an emergency.

  1. Know Whom To Call for Cleanup

It's also a good idea to have the contact information for commercial building restoration services on hand. Enlisting the help of professionals can help get your business back on its feet in a quick and stress-free manner.

Effective School Sanitation

4/16/2018 (Permalink)

We want our children in a safe and healthy environment and school cleanliness contributes to that. Schools get regularley cleaned by the staff. However unexpected things happen that can threaten the cleanliness of the school.

For instance...

  • Sewage Back-Up
This exceeds the common clogged toilet. Broken or cracked pipes can leak sewage and threaten the health safety of the students and staff.
  • Air Duct Cleaning
Every 3-5 years air ducts should be cleaned. This cleaning will eliminate airborne substances that can cause common allergy symptoms, and improve the overall air quality of the structure.
  • Deep Clean Sanitizing
An annual deep clean will do wonders for any environment. This will include wiping down surfaces and deep carpet cleaning. All cleaning products are non irritant. Meaning those sensitive to smells will most likely be unaffected.

Our cleaning follows the same EPA standards for cleanliness. Such cleanliness can also prevent pest problems. This keeps your childrens school environment clean and healthy.
